Uturn Vending Blog

The U-Turn family suffered an intense and heartbreaking loss when on December 19, 2008 one of our dearest friends Rob Betz passed away due to complications resulting from pancreatic failure.  Rob was with us from the beginning, when there was one secretary, one phone line and no leads.  He was with us before there was a “sales team,” a mission plan, or even the internet.  Rob took a chance on a company that had a design for a spinning vending machine and we are forever grateful he did.

We called Rob Johnny Cash because he was so like the legend.  He looked just as impressive dressed in black from head to toe including the shiny black boots, as the country crooner himself did.   And just like the lyrics penned by the music superstar Rob had a way with words.  He could talk to anyone and relate to them.

Rob was our showmen, literally.  He was the face of U-Turn at events and trade shows across the country.  And we were never in more capable hands.  Rob knew everything, absolutely everything about our machines, servicing, tracking, products, everything.  If anyone was stumped with a tough question the automatic reply was- “I don’t know.  Call Rob.”

He was a mentor to so many who have crossed the threshold at U-Turn.  Rob not only helped to educate our staff, he was constantly contributing ideas to improve our company in all aspects, and he was responsible for some very significant improvements to the designs of our machines.

It is not often that one man could have such an impact on a company.  But if you had a chance to meet Rob you could easily see how it would be the case with him.  He was great at what he did, and he was not easy to forget.

Robby thank you for everything you did for us.  We all ready miss you more than we can say.
